Here are some cartoons I did while a student at Michigan State University. They were allowing students to submit cartoons to The State News as sort of a "find a new cartoonist" sort of thing, although they didn't really tell us that. The cartoons above were published along with three others, making one five day week of a cartoon series. I submitted another five cartoons of new characters a couple of weeks later (The Screaming Diphthonggs, a cartoon strip about a punk band), but they declined to publish them that semester, saying I could only get published once a semester. The next semester they dropped "Artist At Large" and never published The Screaming Diphthonggs. That didn't bother me as much as the fact that they basically took my original artwork for the all of the strips I submitted and never returned it. I was told it would be returned to me; I went the State News offices to pick it up, and was given a runaround and then told they didn't know where it was. They probably just threw it out or something. Bastards.
